COMICS IN REVIEW: SPIRITS OF VENGEANCE #1

Hello everyone! As some of you may know, I am writing for the website COMICONVERSE. I have been covering the current comic books from Marvel Comics and BOOM! Studios such as Doctor Strange and Kong of Skull Island.

For myself and anyone else interested I am documenting each of my articles here at Blood Work.

All right, I was very skeptical about this book, mainly because of the artist. David Baldeon's art is the opposite of what I'd want in a new Marvel horror book. Over the last few years Marvel has been consistently making new books with their horror characters and the books have been dead on arrival due to inappropriate art, inappropriate in that the art style did not fit with the characters or story. This book looked to be yet another in a series of missteps by Marvel with their horror books.

The only exception to this was the 2015 volume of CARNAGE which was probably the best Marvel horror book in years if not decades.

I am pleased to report that Spirits of Vengeance #1 isn't all that bad. I actually enjoyed it quite a bit. We'll see if anything comes of this as it is only a five issue mini-series. We'll see.
