Why Horror?
The feeling that makes your skin crawl, the hair on the back of your neck bristle, and sends your heart racing. The impulse to run away from the thing in the dark.
Horror and fear is universal, instantly relatable no matter who you are or where you come from.
Horror can be cathartic, helping us confront our fears in safe ways, and come out the other side intact.
Horror is exciting, getting our blood pumping, making your heart jump in your chest the same way a rollercoaster ride does as it plunges over the crest.
And horror can be a source of hope. Reading or watching characters go through frightening ordeals, facing down pure evil, and triumphing in the end.
These reasons and many more have made horror an irresistible genre to me personally and why I wanted to write Defacer, to give something back to the horror genre, and show my appreciation for it. I sincerely hope this love of horror comes across in the pages of Defacer.
